I have a background as a Senior Fire and Rescue Service Manager with over 30 years experience at operational, tactical and strategic levels. I have worked in dynamic multi agency environments with an excellent understanding of these agencies and cross Government responses to resolve major incidents and international sudden onset disasters. I have a thorough understanding of the Fire and Rescue sector and United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (UN INSARAG) methodology .I have worked in a variety of management roles, in addition to specialist roles. These have included Technical Rescue Team Leader and Search and Rescue Team Manager both in a metropolitan and international arena. Technical rescue specialist areas include, rescues from height, road traffic collisions, rail, water, confined spaces, urban search and rescue (USAR) and animal rescue. I have been a National USAR Tactical Advisor in the UK and overseas. A Water Incident Manager at large scale floods and attended large scale national major incidents.I have worked in a variety of functional management roles, included managing fire stations, operational assurance processes, operational planning/intelligence departments and operational procedures review team.My forte is in the area of technical rescue and emergency planning. I have been heavily involved with Local Resilience Forums, chairing Hazard and Risk sub group with responsibility for the production of Community Risk Register, based on the outcomes of the National Risk Assessment. I have also chaired Exercise and Training sub group, which provided multi agency partners with the opportunity to increase their knowledge and experience to deal and resolve incidents. I have managed multi agency exercising and testing of emergency plans for Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) sites, Major Accident Hazard Pipelines (MAHP) and other significant risks.I have managed business continuity, operational risk information, event planning and implementation of National Operational Guidance, including development of a suite of SOP's. Further to this I have managed Merseyside Fire & Rescue Control, which included the UK National Resilience Fire Control.More recently I was the UN INSARAG Operational Focal Point for the United Kingdom and managed UK International Search and Rescue (UKISAR) Team. This is a Heavy Classified USAR team in accordance with INSARAG methodology, and is available 24/7 to respond internationally. I am an INSARAG External Classifier and was a member of INSARAG Training Working Group.
