I have a keen interest in the use and application of GIS and Remote Sensing with Machine Learning to increase the understanding of how these disciplines can be applied to vegetation analysis globally.Research:My focus is currently on the integration of GIS and Remote Sensing techniques to increase the knowledge and understanding of vegetation systems (at community and landscape scales) both in Australia and globally. While much of my work has been conducted in Mediterranean type ecosystems I am currently assisting in the investigation of vegetation in other system types. Day to Day:I am leading the Geospatial Data Management team for the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage. The Team is responsible for the maintenance of all spatial data (internal and external custodianship) for the Department. Beyond this, the team works to create actionable information from disparate datasets for a range of uses, converting complex workflows into automated pipelines for consistency and accessibility.
