A journey of the biggest change in a man’s life: from Food Addict to Triathlete(FAT). This story about change, challenge, and love aims to inspire and motivate individuals who face similar challenges in their lives. Undertaking a public personal transformation from 400+ lbs to fitness over a three-year period, I partnered with a film company and weight management clinic to document the entire process, including photographing everything I eat for three years.

Invited by the Library to take on the task of a complete revision of the brand and perception of the Calgary Public Library in the community, with the mission to build the best public Library in the world. Served on the Library’s Executive team driving an agenda of change and innovation while rebuilding a team with strong change management and vision and maintaining a dual focus of Marketing & Communications and Government Relations.

As CEO of the Foundation, I engaged the citizens of Calgary in dreaming about and investing in the Library’s potential; as city builder, educator, early literacy centre and community living room. I lead a team that built our fundraising to more than $320,000,000 raised of our $350,000,000 goal, with both public and private sector support. We needed everyone to think of the Library in a way they never had - instead of a purveyor of books and shhhh, we pivoted to the real story which is an organization used by more than 100,000 people every day in Calgary and has a measurable impact in improving their lives.I had the privilege to grow the organization from inception to 15 staff in 5 years while spinning off the Foundation from the Calgary Public Library and recruiting a new Board of Directors – an active Major Gift focused Board. I built all aspects of strategy, planning and design of our fundraising while leading the Major Gift team to raise more support than any other Library in Canada. Under my leadership, our Impact Giving Campaign now boasts more than 14,000 donors with 400 monthlies, 1000’s of customer supporters and hundred’s of leadership donors at $1000+.

Hamilton, Ontario

VP, Development for St. Peter's and Hamilton General Hospital with the David Braley Cardiac, Vascular & Stroke Research Institute. Achieved and exceeded the 2010 annual targets in my first six months for two underdeveloped hospital fundraising campaigns, serving on the Senior Management team, while working closely with the Board of Directors to enhance community relationships.

Concentrated on development for the Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre and the Sunnybrook Research Institute, focusing on $1M+ relationships for individual and corporate prospects. Created individual donor strategies for more than 500 prospects and led a team in maximizing the donor experience; independently securing more than $11M in funds raised.

As the Development Officer, I maintained a focus on the marketing and development of the University's Faculty to alumni, securing major gifts, cultivating individual and corporate donors in Western Canada, Toronto, Ottawa, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, and managing and developing key giving programs at the Faculty Level (Annual Giving, Student Pledge and the Graduate Endowment Fund.)

Provided live-in leadership development for a group of eleven 17 to 21-year-olds in 3-month increments; based in Houston, BC, and Fergus, ON.
