I am MD of Just Runners, a CIC initiative created to form a visible pathway into the film industry. Its focus with under represented groups coming through media education. Through extensive research Just Runners looked at the pitfalls people found when entering the film industry. We found that 60% of people who entered the industry did so through being a runner. This allowed them to build a cv and contacts and get a foot in the door. However finding these positions was often a lottery and a vast amount of the opportunities came through unadvertised positions. We set ourselves to assist employers who wished to be inclusive in their employment. By recruiting the up and coming film makers who lacked connections in film but had been honing their skills independently.I have years of experience in film. Producing short form film through P for Production, Mutiny Communications and Jim Henson Creature Shop and developing the data storage company Film Locker.
