Nicholson McShane was established in 2017. We aim to exceed the expectations of our Clients, providing a professional service across all sectors (Domestic, Residential new build, Commercial, Retail, Hotel, Residential Care Homes, Heathcare both NHS and Private and industrial) at very competitive rates. At present we have a very efficient and highly qualified team of 4 staff members. We are able to handle projects of most sizes. NMA are well connected with local consultants, primarily in Inverclyde but also across Scotland. We also have an excellent rapport with the local Planners and Building Standards officers.We have an excellent understanding of the CDM Regulations, health and safety risk management and provide services as "Principal Designer" for our jobs, as required by the HSE. We can also advise Clients and Contractors of their duties, as required under the CDM Regulations.

In August of 2015 I was approached by Canata and Seggie Chartered Architects, based in Greenock, to join as a director - one of four directors within the business. My own business at the time, Paul McShane Architecture, was doing exceptionally well, but I had the desire to work with and manage a team and an ambition to run a larger well established local practice. Canata & Seggie Chartered Architects, owned by John and Vic, has traded successfully for the last 37 years.

Based in Ayrshire, I am now practicing as a Sole Practitioner, dealing with projects from small to medium size. Interested in developing business possibilities and expanding the practice in 2014 - 2015. We offer a consultancy service to larger Architectural Practices and Architectural Services for bespoke new build in Residential, Commercial, Retail, Care Homes, Hotels and specialising in renovation and refurbishment, including extensions. We can guide you through the process from inception, gaining statutory approvals and site consultancy, construction detailing and support.

Examples below:Commercial: Office and Reception fit out / interior design of Bevis Marks House London for City Site Estates PLC; A high profile development located centrally in the financial district of London, 2 Blocks from St. Mary's Axe "The Gherkin." The project entailed upgrading the reception area and internal fabric to achieve DDA compliance. 1st floor offices upgraded to include new suspended ceiling system complete with enhancement to fire protection.Project value: £400k approx, delivered under budget.Residential: Private Residence, Surrey;Luxury residence situated within the grounds of an exclusive location. The residence includes 6 luxury bedrooms, large basement with cinema, swimming pool and spa facilities, plus extensive garden grounds.Project involved complicated detailed design which incorporated a concrete frame, neo classical stonework, and high specification fittings, running on site and problem solving. This job is ongoing, currently run in-house by the Client's development team and due for completion in 2013.Project Value: £5m approxCare Homes:Project Architect for 72 bed Care Home for Northcare (Scotland) Ltd. - "3 Bridges Care Home," located on Carmunnock Rd, Cathcart, Glasgow.This project had fundamental complications from the outset; The site constraints, defined by three railway bridges (all in use and owned by Network Rail [NR] - therefore NR development consent was required) resulted in an unusual "snaking" footprint, which was carefully designed to provide a number of external spaces readily available and accessible to residents. Achieving the required accommodation over 2 levels was challenging. The design of the building form presented opportunities for good quality internal and external spaces.The project is due for completion in May and is in the final stages.Project Value: £3.4m
