I am a licensed architect, Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and LEED Accredited Professional (Building Design + Construction) with 30+ years of experience. I was an aerospace engineer at Hughes Aircraft before becoming an architect, which taught me to attend to details, be pragmatic and well organized. This sensibility continues to inform my design passion to create highly sustainable, healthy living and work environments - especially for the underserved in our communities. My work has primarily focused on designing affordable housing, workplaces for nonprofit and for-profit corporate clients, and high-end homes. Using architectural practice-based leadership and problem-solving skills, I have guided dozens of nonprofit organizations as an architect, dedicated volunteer and board officer to realize complicated building projects and organizational change focusing on elevating the human condition.I am very proud to help lead MSR Design's creation of exceptional architecture that is beautiful and enduring; that enriches lives and the environment through design; and that achieves generative impacts on all projects. My design work has achieved notable recognition, including an AIA Minnesota/McKnight Foundation Affordable Housing Design Award for The Rose, an AIA Minnesota Honor Award for Trolley Quarter Flats, and a ULI Jack Kemp Award for The Rose. I have also received the AIA Minnesota Louis Lundgren Award for my volunteer work and the AIA Minnesota Young Architect Award. I have been truly fortunate in my career - really, in my life. So I give back to share my bounty that maybe I can help others to find joy and personal success in their lives.
