Paul spent 6 years working at the company’s power plants. He moved through the progression at an accelerated rate and was upgraded to Lead Maintenance Operator after only 6 months in his position. As Leads Maintenance Operator, Paul was responsible for all maintenance and operation of the 1100 MW facility including a crew of four. Paul was very active in the union and served as a union shop steward throughout his career. When the opportunity arose, Paul was nominated to run for election to a position on the union executive board. He was successfully elected by the membership and served a 3-year term. Three years later, at the age of 32, Paul became the youngest Business Manager in the history of IBEW Local 1238 managing five labor agreements and 1000 members. Paul served as lead chair in negotiations and managed through layoffs, plant sales, refinery closures and drastic benefit reductions. At age 38, Paul was offered a position with Pepco Holdings Inc. working in Labor Relations/HR. He was responsible for negotiations with the company’s 4 unions as well as the development and implementation of company policies, procedures and investigations. After serving 3 years in his Labor Relations and Human Resources role, Paul returned to his roots and accepted a position as a Construction Project Manager for Delmarva Power. This led to Paul exploring opportunities outside the company as a senior project manager where Paul worked for multiple companies and managed large-scale transmission, distribution and substation projects. Paul has 12 years of experience in the utility construction and project management fields. Paul has experience that few others possess. He has negotiated from the union and company sides of the table. He has held influential positions in power generation, utility construction, business development, and project management.
