During my team at BWC I developed and implemented a new Individual Giving strategy. The team was responsible for an income target of £1.6m across 5 key income streams (Direct Marketing, Regular Giving, Lotteries, Public Donations and Legacies). Key to our success was the introduction of a new data segmentation model which has since been embedded across the fundraising team as a whole.During this period we also developed and introduced a now bi-annual series of legacy events designed for the recruitment of legacy pledgers. These events are now a highlight of the fundraising calendar.I also guided the organisation through a significant investment to launch a substantial pilot for Private Site fundraising activity.

Responsible for managing a portfolio of trusts and major donors whilst managing the charity’s relationship with a board of 8 senior volunteers forming the West Midlands Development Board, 2 patrons and a charity ambassador all of which held senior corporate positions locally.I also managed the completion of a roll-out of one of Marie Curie's primary Major Gifts products with the national launch of “Pay for a Day” in the charity’s 9 Hospices across the UK. The "Pay for a Day" product had a net income budget of over £500,000 (not including the use of Pay for a Day as a stewardship or retention tool which would bring the net total to over £700,000).

Working as part of an award-winning team to generate high level annual giving gifts to the University and encouraging new donors to make their first mid-level (4 or 5-figure) gift. Responsibilities included all aspects of the donor cultivation journey through identifying major gift prospects and making first contact to making the ask, negotiating the terms of each gift and the stewarding process.

One of three fundraising managers at Donna Louise, the local children's hospice for Staffordshire and Cheshire. I managed both corporate and community relationships focusing primarily on the South Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands areas. It was a diverse role ensuring that any opportunity for funding was maximised and that relationships were managed professionally, setting realistic expectations and offering guidance, resources and innovative solutions.

I took ownership of an area which was new to myself and relatively new to the organisation. I learnt quickly the intricacies of legacy fundraising and the many challenges it brings both in communication to your internal staff and external supporters. The role incorporated prospect research, marketing, relationship management and also the pipeline of wills after probate. I continued to assist the Individual Development team with certain tasks such as monthly mailing evaluations, community, online and social media fundraising.
