My research project, realized under the co-supervision of Pr. Tremblay (Polytechnique Montreal) and Pr Colin Rogers (McGill University), focuses on the use of gravity-controlled rocking braced frame systems as a design or retrofit solution for steel structures. It comes as a continuation of the research I conducted during my master thesis.My current Ph.D. is focusing on the consequences of the impacts induced by the rocking cycles when the columns of the rocking frame return to their initial position. I am especially focusing on the induced inertia forces in the frame members (axial loading in columns and braces, shear and flexural bending in beams) that are higher than the design code provisions according to our results. The behavior of the floors and roofs slab during uplift phases are also of interest.During that project, two major experimental campaigns have been undertaken at the Laboratory of Structures of Polytechnique Montreal. Moreover, numerical analyses have been performed to expand the experimental results.That research project will be completed during winter 2020. The thesis defence will be completed by the publication of three journal papers and conference papers as well.

Master thesis in earthquake engineering. Research activities on seismic retrofit of steel structures according to NBCC 2015.The research project, entitled Seismic retrofit of low-rise steel buildings in Canada using gravity-controlled rocking braced frames was conducted between January 2015, and February 2017, under the co-supervision of Pr Robert Tremblay (Polytechnique Montreal) and Pr Colin Rogers (McGill University).The research focused on a new method to retrofit seismically-deficient low-rise steel buildings.Numerical analyses were performed with the SAP 2000 software.Results showed the efficiency of such a retrofit scheme according to nowadays standards (ASCE41-13).

Consideration of the uncertainties in the probability determination of the seismic chance; application of bayesian methods; confrontation between PSHA (Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assesment) and observation of the instrumental and historic seismicity; application to the French nuclear sites.
