This role requires me to operate independently to provide quality and results to internal and external engagements and gain increasing credibility within the framework of Neptune’s methodology, procedures and best practices.I am also required to demonstrate expertise to deliver functional and technical solutions and also demonstrate commercial and technical awareness as you engage clients. Other details of this position include but not limited to:1. Leading the delivery of business results for the company and its clients.2. Serving as program manager or team leader on client engagements or as a lead/team member on solution teams, internal initiative teams and sales-related endeavors.3. Defining and designing projects in collaboration with peers and senior management.4. Analyzing customer requirements, collaborating with developers, platform experts and other resources to provide expert level consulting to all clients.5. Designing and implementing solutions to problems or issues being faced by the company’s clients.6. Provide insight, expertise and direction to client executives and staff through complex operational changes, acting as trusted adviser.7. Supervising and mentoring junior team members.8. Engaging the larger global team and subject matter experts to establish and refine business and functional requirements, as well as service-related processes.

The following are some of the main responsibilities:1. Database administration using Oracle and Sybase DBMSes.2. Implementation of Banking Software.3. Day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of the Banking Software and provision of support services to the users.4. Training of users on the banking application software and database administration.5. Training of new employees on the different aspects of the banking application, database administration and project management skills.

I used the 10 month period to get acquainted with the company's products and business processes. The following are the key areas:1. Sybase database installation, configuration and administration.2. Transact-SQL: complex querying, indexing for performance, procedures and triggers.3. Equinox core banking application: understanding of the banking business and how Equinox addresses each of the functions from operations, credit, finance and audit aspects.4. Equinox trade finance module: understanding of international trade and how these are achieved using the trade finance module. Main areas were documentary credit (LCs), documentary bills, guarantees and clean payments.5. Introduction to practical project management: I participated in a trade finance implementation project at CRDB Bank in Uganda where I was trained through a complete project cycle.
