A cloud-savvy. technical healthcare CIO, I’ve helped executives and boards understand the tradeoffs inherent with buy vs. build decisions, insource vs. outsource, on-premise vs. cloud infrastructures and to-the-cloud migrations. With a degree in physics and writing, I’ve developed a lot of technology muscle while also improving my ability to boil things down for non-technical audiences. I’ve brought to market first-of-their-kind solutions but I never lose sight of the fact that the primary focus for Informatics must remain our patients: ensuring they are seen, their benefits and bills are accurate and timely, and their data is safely available to the authorized. All of that is more easily accomplished when one takes the time to foster and grow a connected community where coworkers want to develop and achieve successes for themselves and their team.
