There’s nothing more satisfying than turning your frustration into a successful business, which is exactly what we have done with inniAccounts. The company was founded to help self-employed professionals move from using complicated spreadsheets to manage their accounts to an intelligent real-time cloud-based accounting tool. Despite having no experience of accounting, we took inspiration from all the other inventors and entrepreneurs who were outsiders to an industry they wanted to fix and decided to build a tool ourselves. It was my job to build a reliable and secure architecture and I’m proud to say we were the first online accountancy to offer real time tax calculations. It takes seconds and we won a Queens Award for Innovation as a result. Today my focus is on improving the software even more, with particular emphasis on incorporating artificial intelligence. Having spent 20 years as a contractor working in major multinationals and the NHS, I understand what our clients need and my team is constantly reviewing new technologies to see how they can help make life easier, and ultimately give people the freedom to do more of the stuff that really matters to them. When I’m not turning ideas into reality I switch off by renovating some derelict woodland I own, cooking up a super-charged curry or taking to the great outdoors.
