Leading Product at Prism Labs, an ML and CV-focused company that produces 3D body scans from a mobile phone camera to power digital health & fitness. Key roles:• Transitioned the company from a multiple depth camera-based hardware scanning technology to an RGB-only solution conducted with any smartphone’s camera, unlocking a new market for this category.• Revamped the company's business model from direct-to-consumer to B2B2C, which is now successfully powering health and fitness businesses at scale via our SDKs and APIs.• Spearheaded the overhaul of our CV/ML pipelines for 3D body reconstruction and body composition insights utilizing a single RGB camera, including establishing a validation strategy with research partners to certify the precision and accuracy of our RGB-only scanning technology.

Led Product at DawnLight, an AI-powered company building AI products for the healthcare space based on fine-grain human activity recognition and founded by Fei-Fei Li. Key roles:• Revamped the product org and brought alignment across all our engineering teams (ML/CV, software platform, hardware, and firmware teams), delivering our first 510(k) product to market ahead of schedule. • Defined the strategy and led the execution of our product in the patient falls detection space using a single camera system, which was deployed within large payers and health systems.• Spearheaded data collection initiatives to power the training of our fall detection model by constructing simulated hospital rooms and forging partnerships with major health systems.

DrChrono is the number 1 mobile-first cloud healthcare EHR platform. Key roles:• Led the Patient, Billing and RCM teams, which represented over 60% of the company revenue.• Identified and led several strategic scaling and new revenue initiatives that allowed for our $XXM revenue to almost double under my tenure. DrChrono was acquired by EverCommerce in 2021.

We got acquired by Envision Pharma Group in 2021.Head of Product (2012-2018)Co-founded and led from the ground up an enterprise SaaS software company (Techstars Boston '15) that helps life sciences companies turn highly complex document workflows into simple and transparent collaborative tasks. Key roles:• Built the business from the ground up and managed a team of 25 people that shipped products to top 10 pharmaceutical companies.• Got to product-market fit and led the company to $XM in ARR.• Engaged with c-level executives and users from some of the largest pharmaceutical companies to drive partnerships and understand their functional needs while maintaining the vision of a scalable product roadmap.• Worked with Sales, Marketing, Design, Engineering, Regulatory, and QA teams to execute the product roadmap for short term users’ needs, always balancing the execution of the long-term vision of the product (3+ years).

Helped build a platform to connect patients and payers in addition to coordinating benefits and care. Contributed to the go-to-market strategy, conducted user interviews, and defined the first MVP experience.

Led product at Adherium, a digital healthcare company that is solving the lack of medication adherence in patients with chronic respiratory diseases like asthma (awarded the 6th most innovative healthcare company in the world by Fast Company). Key roles:• Set the strategy and roadmap of a cross-platform product that included a collection of connected inhaler sensors, mobile and wearable apps, and web portals.• Identified, defined and aligned product KPIs to deliver value to patients, clinicians, health providers, and payers. • Owned product strategy and the delivery of user experiences that require complex coordination between the hardware, firmware, manufacturing, software, UX, clinical and regulatory teams.• Led user research, analytics, and user testing initiatives along with our designers to improve the current product and also de-risk the experiences in the product roadmap. The company merged in 2019.

As an Entrepreneur in Residence at the VDC, one of Boston’s leading incubators for tech-based companies, I specialized in helping technology companies and entrepreneurs:• Navigate enterprise customer pain points to clearly distill the problem they are trying to solve while ensuring their vision of a scalable product is maintained.• Understand how to manage and grow their cross-functional teams.

I mentored local startups at Techstars' pre-accelerator programs, helping them define their product-market fit strategy, scale their products and manage/structure internal teams.

Directed the technical execution of the DACHOR project, a wearable medical device to restore lost foot motion in drop foot patients, which comprised a robotic brace coupled with an electronic muscle stimulator (under guidance from Profs. Dava Newman and Miguel Silva). Key roles:• Managed a team of 5 from initial engineering concept up until clinical trials.• Built relationships and engaged with patients, medical professionals and partners, and used their feedback to define requirements, design features and plan the product roadmap alongside with the engineering team.• Contributed to the project as a hardware and software engineer, having worked in a new portable muscle stimulator, and machine learning models that predicted and controlled the motion of the foot in patients with drop foot (part of my PhD).• Had my machine learning modelling work recognized with the first prize for best engineering research of practical utility in 2014 by the Fraunhofer Institute.

Taught a variety of engineering and innovation courses at the University of Lisbon and at MIT:• Biomedical Devices and Technologies Course;• Project Innovation in Biomedical Engineering;• Biomechatronics;• Biomechanics of Movement.

• Developed a computational method that helped predict the likelihood of a patient having a neurodegenerative disorder based on volume measurements of subcortical brain structures obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data.

• Developed a new microfluidics design and implemented it in a platform that used electric fields to guide and identify molecules.• This platform was later integrated on a Lab-On-A-Chip device for quick blood testing.

• In a team of 2 engineers, led the execution, set timelines and key deliverables of a platform to optimize aircraft routes and cosmic radiation exposure. Resulting optimal routes were adopted by the Portuguese Air Force as new guidelines.
