My efforts resulted in a more efficient use of staffing resources, with more successful events taking place and greater customer outreach and satisfaction. I completely overhauled the reference collections within the borough, mastering my knowledge of selection, management, maintenance and promotion of stock. My experience in this post of working with internal and external partners (such as the NHS, local colleges, or Learndirect) was invaluable in developing my ability to work on a service-wide level, as I proactively developed community contacts which encouraged development, awareness and use of the library service, including obtaining sponsorships and external funding. I gained excellent staff development and coaching skills in this position as I all members of my team were trainers themselves, who needed constant development in their own skills and techniques. I also became an expert in web 2.0 as applied to library services, and ever since I have remained well-informed of the latest developments in library and information services.
