Founder and visionary behind the creation of a cyber intelligence platform that applies both a scientific approach and leverages Object-Based Production (OBP) and Activity-Based Intelligence (ABI) to transform an organization from searching data for knowledge to one of searching knowledge for answers with regards to cyber threats.Business responsibilities include defining company vision and product roadmap, interfacing with potential investors, developing financial forecast and go-to-market strategy, developing relationships with potential customers as references and design partners.Technical contributions include increasing the horizontal scalability of ingest, enrichment, and fusion at least 4X, creation of semantic models in RDF/OWL for the NIST cybersecurity as well as existing and emerging threat sharing standards, creation of stateless services used to automate the extraction, enrichment, and mapping of ingested data into the semantic models including full support for the latest threat sharing standards: STIX, MAEC, CybOX.

In my role as Director of Cyber Technology, my primary responsibility was to oversee and manage the R&D investments in the cyber security portfolio for the IS&GS business area. This included control of funding, coordination of activities, performing reviews, and providing technical guidance. In addition, I was also responsible for providing architectural guidance, beyond cyber security domain, to teams to achieve alignment of efforts, while reducing duplication and eliminating investments in efforts that were not aligned with strategic or business objectives. During this period, I acted as a mentor to a number of architects, developers, and researchers with regards to technology, business strategy, and organizational maneuvering. As an individual with considerable commercial experience, I was involved in the early effort to establish a commercial cyber security practice by providing feedback, insights, and market experience to leadership. Additionally, I was often called upon to sharing details about various cyber security technologies with both government and commercial entities.Beyond overseeing the Cyber Security R&D investments, I was also directly involved in a number of research efforts, both internally and externally with universities and government research labs in various aspects of cyber security. Activities also included being an active contributor to the TAXII, STIX, MAEC, and CybOX industry standards for sharing cyber threat information. Internal architectural activities included leading an effort to create a multi-purpose intelligence platform based on "Big Data" and semantic technology that could be leverage by multiple domains, creation of "taskable" cyber sensors that could be dynamically tasked with what to look for in real time, and creating a security framework that incorporated OWASP best practices as a means to simplify what a developer need to know.

As the Chief Development Architect, I was responsible for the development of a next generation architecture which would modernize the existing architecture, enable a more modular approach where capabilities could more easily be shared and combined, and better enable support for a variety of user interface technologies.

As Chief Architect of BEA Systems and a member of the Office of CTO, my responsibilities grew to encompass the the overall technical vision and architecture for the entire BEA product portfolio, provider overall architectural leadership and technical governance. As a key member of the team responsible for identifying future BEA product offerings, I was involved in the emergence of the concept of a Service Network, a fabric-based architecture for service deployment that provided scaling and resiliency beyond what could be provided by Enterprise Service Bus solutions, and the creation of the microService architecture, a service-base architectural approach for building application and service infrastructure targeted at reducing cost of duplication and allowing greater flexibility in the creation of new product offerings at a lower cost and time to market. The microService architecture was adopted as the basis for building all new BEA product offerings and transforming all existing products.One of my responsibilities was to lead the Corporate Architecture Group (CAG) which spans product, brand, and divisional boundaries. CAG was a product neutral organization focused on providing architectural and governance leadership and responsible for driving a consistent set of architectural guidelines, principles, and best practices across the entire portfolio of BEA products.External facing activities, with customers, media, analysts, and the field continued to increase during this period. As Deputy CTO, I was in constant demand to meet with customers and assist the sales organization in any way possible including becoming an Executive Sponsor for 2 key corporate customers and a handful of government agencies. As one of the only leaders with a security clearance, I was constantly meeting with various government agencies.

As Chief Architect of the AquaLogic product family, I was responsible for the overall technical vision and architecture of BEA's new service infrastructure offerings called AquaLogic and its introduction to the marketplace. As a key part of my role, I was worked closely with the marketing organization in its effort to re-brand the corporation and introduce the AquaLogic product line to the market place. This work involved helping industry and financial analyst understand the re-branding and the creation of the new AquaLogic product line, and the positioning of AquaLogic with BEA's traditional WebLogic product family. During this period, I took on the additional responsibility to lead a group responsible for the technical analysis of competitive technology. Working closely with the marketing organization, the results of analysis was leveraged both by marketing and Sales Engineers.In my expanded role as Vice President, my outreach activities with both customers and the Sales organization continued to expand to include being a direct contact to key corporate accounts, continued support for sales engagements, briefing to both industry and financial analysts of the overall technical direction of BEA's solutions, and interviews with the media. Additionally, I worked with both Sales and Marketing to create and lead an advisory board of key customers as a means to better understanding their key issues, requests, and where they saw the future.

During this time my responsibilities included with working with the various product teams to define an overall security strategy ad coordinate the security capabilities throughout all of BEA's products. As part of this effort, I was responsible for the identification and technical evaluation of security technologies and spearheaded the creation of policies and procedures for responding to reported security vulnerabilities.As a member of the Office of CTO, I had a number of outreach responsibilities which included, numerous speaking engagements at industry sponsored events, regular briefings to industry analysts on BEA's technical vision and direction. In addition, I provided extensive support to the sales organization to assist them in closing deals, attract new customers, and by providing key customers a direct line of access to BEA's executive team. Along with providing support to the sales team, I also spent significant time with the Sale Engineering team to provide them training, early insight into new developments, and a technical channel for issues and requests. As a direct result of my support to the field organization, I was awarded an invitation to Achiever's Club by the Sales organization in both 2001 and 2003.

In this role, my responsibilities included leading the the re-architecture of BEA's ObjectBroker CORBA ORB technology and being co-architect of BEA's new Object Transaction Monitor "Iceberg" or M3. As part of this joint integation of the Tuxedo TP Monitor and the ObjectBroker CORBA ORB, I was had responsibility for the joint architecture of a new service-based security infrastructure.During this time, I continued my direct support of key customers of ObjectBroker, assisting in customer sales, and helping with transitioning to the OTM. As part of preparing the field for the introductions of object-based solutions, I providing training and mentoring to numerous Sales Engineers which were part of a special Object Ambassadors group.I was recognized for my many efforts to bridge across distributed engineering teams, assistance and mentor others, and my work with the field organization by receiving the President's Award in 1999.
