Continued from CFO, Moran Prinitng, Inc.I improved the general ledger structure to mimic the printing industries standard account structure to facilitate better performance and ratio comparison in forecasts and actual financial operations.I implemented sales tax automation to our ERP system which saved 40 hours per month in sales tax reporting. This allowed a senior staff member to perform other tasks. The time savings more than paid for the addition cost of the outsourced vendor. Another improvement I implementation was the use of Infor F9 application, an excel spreadsheet application used to gather data from multiple general ledger data source. This reduced the time required to prepare monthly financials. I was a member of the safety committee that oversees plant safety programs and employee training.

I performed all accounting functions for the fully integrated landscape architect firm which specializes in all phases of the design-build-maintain style of landscape business. I managed the job cost through QuickBooks Pro accounting system, including weekly payroll, payables, receivables and financial statement generation. Managed the monthly write up services, prepared financial statements, tax returns, payroll returns and other compliance reports for clients. We were one of the many CPA firms using the Digital Equipment Systems PDP 11/23 computer system for write up services. This was the precursor system to Great Plains accounting software. Monthly write up clients included restaurants, retail sales, doctor and attorney offices. Tax season was always a rush to sevice about 300 tax returns.
