As Chief Community Relations Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, I work to solve the most pressing obstacles that challenge our community.I spend every day with the people of Maricopa County, supporting AZ Blue’s mission to inspire health. My personal investment in this community reaches back decades. Though my role has changed since my days in law enforcement and public safety, my passion for purpose-driven leadership and helping people has not.The best way I serve the community now is to:• Determine the right strategy to best meet the needs of the people we serve.• Design the strategies to address those needs, whether through education, services or outreach.• Guide and oversee the tactical implementation to ensure success.Relationships are crucial, whether I build them with members of the community, my teams or the stakeholders and board members who partner with us. We all want to make the greatest impact, which takes smart strategic thinking and investment choices.My greatest rewards come from helping our community grow and improve, and driving a cultural transformation within our organization. A key focus is to impact the cultural mindset inside AZ Blue, inspiring our teams to go out and make a difference in their communities.Outside of work, I try to keep life as simple as I can. My wife and I love to travel, checking in with family in Italy every year. Being present for the people in my own life when I’m at home is important to me—though I do carve out time for a bit of gardening.
