I am a full-time Process Improvement expert, utilizing 6 Sigma methodology to reduce waste and defects in any business process. I work with business leaders, finance reps, customers and suppliers to identify business critical process improvement needs aligned with the business unit goals, financial gaps and business growth strategies. I create a business case for each project and have it approved by leaders and key stakeholders. My projects are in the Specialty Healthcare business unit where we strive to reduce defects or shorten process cycle time.

I was a Program Manager for WFS Construction, which was a general contractor serving the petrochemical industry in the Gulf Coast Region. The company focused on capital projects, maintenance and periodic turnarounds on facilities. Since it was a relatively small company, everyone in the home office had multiple roles. I was responsible for Project Controls, Accounting, Purchasing, Quality Control, contract review and training of field and office employees.

Houston Area

Utilizing extensive experience from a career in Naval Aviation, I provided business coaching and process improvement for the upstream oil and natural gas industry. The focus of my work was on crew leadership, teamwork, performance and implementation of the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. I utilized best practices from Naval Aviation and applied them to the energy industry to improve operations and safety in a high performance, high reliability, high hazard environment. The results were reduced rig downtime by as much as 20% and shortened drilling completion time by up to 10%.

Newport, Ri

I was the leader for a 40-person mobile Process Improvement Team at the Naval War College. The team traveled worldwide to provide educational assistance and recommendations to improve efficiency and capability of large Navy staffs. We provided real-time, comprehensive feedback to each organization and then did follow-up visits to help guide improvements and ensure progress was being made. The team also identified and disseminated effective practices to share Navy wide. I was responsible for the daily and long-term direction and management of all team members and was a mentor for their professional growth. I taught numerous courses for mid-level and senior military officers and I developed updates to Navy wide doctrine and processes.

Greater San Diego Area

I had the great honor and challenge of being responsible for scheduling, training and safe operation for 75 ships, 450 aircraft and 35,000 personnel. I also directed US Navy response to natural disasters and security threats on the West coast of the United States, involving dozens of real world events and training exercises and working with local, state and federal officials to provide a coordinated response. I managed a $300 million dollar annual fuel and training budget to ensure funds were efficiently used and resources were allocated to meet the organization's long-term goals. I led a staff of over 100 personnel, maximizing their productivity and helping them meet their career goals. Finally, I ran the world's largest Naval exercise in 2008 and 2010, bringing together 14 countries and 20,000 personnel to provide valuable training and enhance cooperation amongst the participants.

Responsible for all aspects of operations, scheduling, maintenance and personnel management of a Navy aircraft squadron. Oversaw the daily efforts of over 250 personnel in the fast-paced and demanding environment onboard a US Navy ship. Ensured morale and the well-being of all personnel was at the forefront of every overseas deployment. Carefully managed a $25 million annual operating budget. Ensured the safe and effective operation of squadron aircraft in both peacetime and wartime environments.

Organized, motivated and led cross-functional planning teams working major projects with tight deadlines. Communicated regularly to senior US government civilian and military personnel on status of national-level planning efforts. Coordinated and tracked the overseas deployment of over 230,000 personnel, synchronizing movements to meet strategic objectives. Directed training for 12 Navy aircraft squadrons. Managed the scheduling, maintenances and upgrades for 5 flight simulators valued at $4 million. Oversaw the development, construction and testing of new $2.5 million radar training system.
