I am currently a team lead for several efforts involved in improving efficiency, reducing costs through systems integration/maintenance, and exposing relevant metrics for the Special Operations Forces.Career highlights:* Early in my career, I engineered web applications utilizing the framework Struts. I am currently more focused on middleware development, but have spent time learning Spring 2.5 and Seam.* My current focus is on ORM (Object Relational Mapping) tools and development of generic APIs to reduce development time for logistical applications while improving performance at the data layer. I have also architected solutions around the Drools 5 framework. One aspect of my research was looking at Drools to provide autonomic capabilities through the use of complex event processing (CEP), event stream processing (ESP), and workflows. I also have experience with the development of knowledge bases for processing business rules.* Most of my work has been with Oracle databases as the underlying datastore, but I have also utilized Microsoft SQL, postgres and mysql as well as hsqldb for embedded databases internal to datamigration tasks.* I have utilized Aspect oriented programming to enrich applications with bolt-on functionality in order to maintain a loosely-coupled architecture, but still provide the robust functionality of a more tightly integrated application.* I have developed several tools for assisting data migration and performance analysis. In order to accomplish these tasks, I have had to delve into concurrent programming in order to model a multi-user environment and also to improve the performance of our data migration/loading tools.* I am strong believer in abstraction and architecting/developing loosely-coupled applications.
