Paul Raya is a registered patent attorney and a shareholder with Cook Alex Ltd. Paul has extensive intellectual property experience and his practice includes patent and trademark procurement, strategic counseling, opinions, litigation and intellectual property agreements.Paul’s experience includes intellectual property portfolio management, patent and trademark preparation/prosecution, strategic intellectual property planning, due diligence analysis associated with start-up companies, litigation, agreements, and opinions regarding patent and trademark infringement, patentability, patent validity, and trademark availability. Paul’s patent practice is primarily focused on the medical device, chemical and mechanical technologies.Paul studied chemistry at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. Following graduation, he took a position teaching chemistry in secondary education. While attending The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, Paul was also employed as a Chicago Police Officer. In 2004, Paul was awarded his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, and received a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. During law school, he was a member of The John Marshall Law Review and a staff-editor for The John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law. Paul joined the firm in 2004 following graduation from The John Marshall Law School.
