Intern Android Developer
For my graduation at the ‘Hogeschool Rotterdam’ (Rotterdam University for applied sciences), I needed to follow a final internship and write a thesis. A ‘lost-phone’ application which allows it’s user to determine the location of his / her cellphone using a web interface and an application on the phone which communicates it’s GPS position to a server. This type of application allows its user to find his /her phone when lost or stolen, giving them a chance of getting it back. Our concept however included additional features such as remote locking, remote ringing and alien SIM detection. The application knows two parts, an Android application, installed on the phone and a server / web application with which the Android application communicates. To complete this internship I needed to complete a release candidate of the Android application and write a thesis about the project. Part of the server /web application was developed by a Web Integration employee during my internship, so I could perform tests, the rest was to be developed later, when Web Integration decides to complete the application. I developed this application with the Android SDK and with a modular setup, to allow adding features later on. I also created the protocol to allow the Android application to communicate with the server / web application. After defending my thesis, I graduated from the ‘Hogeschool Rotterdam’ Show less

A game is won by either successfully capturing the treasure or destroying all the opponents ships. We developed the game engine from the ground up using Flash CS3, coding with Action Script 3. The game engine responds to input from the TUIO (Touch User Interface Operations) library, draws the content on the screen, plays background music and sound effects and applies the game metrics. All this is achieved while keeping the frame rate high enough to ensure smooth gameplay. The graphic content for this game was delivered by DPI. Show less
