About Paul Hindle
I have 30 years' experience working in journalism and higher education and am a multi-award-winning communications leader. My most recent role was Associate Director of Communications at De Montfort University, Leicester. My role covered the entire comms portfolio, including Press & PR, internal communications, social media and content production. I led a team of 20+ comms professionals. My responsibilities included crisis communications and business continuity planning; leading on comms for the Vice-Chancellor and senior leadership team; Public Affairs and external relations; social media performance; and content planning for key university campaigns. As a member of the Marcomms Senior Leadership Team, I also helped provide strategic direction and oversight for 80+ colleagues. I led on communications for major campaigns, including DMU's organisation-wide Empowering University strategy, delivering business sustainability, Clearing and our Education 2030 teaching and learning transformation. Under my leadership, DMU was a finalist in both the 2019 and 2018 CIM Marketing Excellence Awards for Best Use of Social Media and we finished in the top three for social media performance in HE in the seven years from 2016 to 2022, according to tables compiled by Edurank.
