Cannot stop thinking -- must code, must publish, must create. Life's too short. It is time to stop pretending and admit rare mathematical talent, which, when coupled with damn excellent coding skills will yield magic; if not on-demand, close enough. Yeah! ...cf. infraExtreme innovation and creativity. I am currently completely entranced by Bayesian inference techniques. It appears there are amazing discoveries just sitting there waiting to be picked up. It's essentially impossible to not synthesize new cool ideas.Specialties: Bayesian econometrics, quantitative finance, stochastic differential equations, MCMC, compilers, domain specific languages, messaging protocols and message passing languages, parallel algorithms, cluster, C++/C#/Python/Perl/COM/R/Matlab/x64asm/others; MPI, NUMA, SMP, GPGPU, memory models, lock-free... and a whole slew of hardcore math & tech things I could dig up from my past and hit expert in about a month.•Design and implement languages and compilers•High performance technical computing •OS schedulers and runtimes•MPI data flow patterns and other messaging providers and patterns•Hadoop, MongoDB, Elasticsearch•HPC cluster global modeling of contagious disease epidemiology – malaria, polio, tuberculosis, HIV •Rare event prediction for large oil refineries (1 million node wireless sensor network)•Data Parallel C++ (viz., AMP) programming model and performance story.•Data parallel algorithms in CUDA, OpenCL, HLSL Compute Shader and SSE/AVX vector units. •ConcRT thread scheduler and resource manager. •Productizing various machine learning software developed by MSR•Big time machine learning and mathematics.•Predicting the future.•MapReduce.

Principal SdePredixion Nov 2013 - Oct 2015Damn cool -- could be explained by serendipity or intractable arrogance waiting for lightning to strike ;-). Still....couldn't be happier.

Principal Software EngineerIntellectual Ventures Aug 2012 - Jul 2013Bellevue, Wa, UsContagious disease epidemiological modeling for Global Good Campaign.Innovative random graph model, Ensemble Kalman technique, MPI pattern optimizations.Fun with math and distributed compute graphs. -
Principal SdeMicrosoft (Bayesian Magic) Jul 2011 - Aug 2012Now this is what I was meant to do!! A synthesis of machine learning (viz., applied Bayesian statistics;-), econometrics, stochastic diffeqs, time series, wavelets, sequential and Markov chain Monte Carlo inference techniques, particle filters and learning, variational-Bayes/mean-field, non- and semi-parametric financial and econometric modeling, hierarchical Bayesian mixture models and general Bayesian networks and even a little statistical mechanics, SDEs, robotics, neuroscience, a random sampling of computational techniques from last century’s physics, …. Kind of funny for an elitist pure math guy proud that the only numbers he ever used were page numbers.;-) Here’s what I’m implementing right now: “Bootstrapping the Illiquidity: Multiple Yield Curves Construction for Market Coherent Forward Rates Estimation”. Damn! How close to heaven can you get w/o going the final mile?

Principal SdeMicrosoft (Hpc Server) Mar 2011 - Jul 2011Redmond, Washington, UsWell, that was fun. MPI is totally cool. Had to complete the trip from lock-free, watch your fences, to optimizing algorithms through cluster-level locality. Nice to know that it was exactly like I thought it was going to be. Had to learn API patterns and MPI-specific messaging protocols. But optimizing in the MPI/cluster space is basically obvious. -
Principal SdeMicrosoft (Hpc Server) Jan 2009 - Mar 2011Redmond, Washington, UsPartying with GPGPUs. It's fun to have 1200 cores with > 2TFlop perf in a single card. -
Principal SdeMicrosoft (Hpc Server) Jan 2007 - Jan 2009Redmond, Washington, UsWriting the ConcRT scheduler and the Maestro programming language. Definitely a bit heaven.... -
SdeMicrosoft (Biztalk Server) Oct 2001 - Jan 2007Some of my best memories are from the BizTalk team. We climbed mountains together, both concretely and metaphorically. I became a well-rounded dev working on almost every aspect of BizTalk: language design, compiler, codegen, codesense, UI interaction, scheduler, orchestration engine, message broker/box (any small claim I have to SQL skill comes from BizTalk) and near the end, working 1-on-1 with large customers, helping get serious business processes live. I spent many months optimizing the architecture for UBS and then they went live with $300 billion in transactions a day. That was COOL!!!

Programmer/ActuraryMilliman & Robertson May 1991 - Mar 1996Desgined and developed domain specific languages to more easily perform option adjusted valuations on stochastic yield curve models as well as monte carlo simulation for asset-liabilty duration matching... Wonder why nobody was interested in convexity?
