I’ve been in the IT industry's professional services for more than 30 years and I enjoy what I do.Currently: -My principal role is as a director of Cyber Strategies where I specialise in helping SMBs in a number of market sectors which have specific vulnerabilities in terms of the valuable data they hold in both their own regard but very importantly on behalf of their clients and customers.It is well understood that every business is vulnerable to the threat presented by weaknesses in system configurations; their policies and human controls. Examples of this include the use of simple rather than complex passwords; use of administrative rights; poor staff awareness/understanding of threats; and a lack of active management of policies. Previously: -Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, I moved through the roles of Practice Manager, Partner Designate, then in the commercial sector as Financial Controller, Finance Director and Managing Director at Electronic Office Equipment plc (EOE). In 1999, I steered the sale of EOE to a listed company - which was an interesting experience. It was the year that fears surrounding the Millennium Bug dominated the corporate space, leading to the sale of the computer division of EOE and the origin of Yellowspring.Eighteen years later and having built a successful IT Solutions Provider it was time again to sell and move onto new ventures. Yellowspring continues to thrive by filling the IT skills vacuum within small & medium enterprises.
