Continued to perform operations analysis and mission design for commercial, DoD, and NASA / NOAA spacecraft / payloads on Atlas V space launch vehicles, including manned systems. Experience working with technical and cross-functional teams.Participated in engineering reviews and engineering milestone events (Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, etc).Developed models and conceptual designs to develop and evaluate mission parameters, to meet customer requirements. Assisted in acceptance testing of new proprietary simulation software.Wrote technical reports or other documentation for use by engineering staff, management, customers and other stakeholders. Planned, coordinated and executed activities concerned with investigating and resolving customers' technical concerns. Supported ICD development and requirements/specifications verification and validation. Participated in launch activities at Cape Canaveral by presenting pre-launch Range Safety briefings and monitored trajectory, range safety and orbits during launch (on-console) with finalization of presenting post-launch results. Supported development of the Atlas V space launch vehicle/EELV.Supported trade studies and proposals.Familiarity with Range and FAA safety requirements.Mission Engineer for the AV-059/MexSat, AV-043/TDRS-L, and AV-024/Intelsat-14 missions. Flight Design Point of Contact for development of the RL10C-1 upper stage engine. Conducted numerous 3DOF and 6DOF mission simulations and Monte Carlo analyses to prove RL10C-1 engine could perform satisfactorily with the Atlas V Centaur upper stage. To date, all Atlas V missions utilizing the RL10C-1 engine have flown successfully. Flight Design Point of Contact for all Atlas V SRB related missions. Compiled appropriate statistical database to ensure SRBs performed as anticipated. To date, all Atlas V missions using SRBs have flown successfully.
  • Lockheed Martin
    Senior Engineer
    Lockheed Martin Mar 1995 - Dec 2006
    Littleton, Co
Provided operations analysis and mission design for commercial, DoD, and NASA payloads on Titan and Atlas space launch vehicles. Documented and formally presented results at projects’ successful conclusion. Performed analyses including performance optimization, range safety, RF link / telemetry, and other tasks via proprietary software. Supported ICD development and requirements verifications. Mission Engineer for the AV-004/Inmarsat-4 F1 mission, the first Atlas V / 431 ever launched; and for the AC-135 / EchoStar-3 mission. Developed main engine throttling profile using 3DOF and 6DOF mission simulations and Monte Carlo analyses that would reduce loads to prevent structural buckling while maximizing performance of the first Atlas V / 431. Launch was a total success and customer was extremely satisfied with the flight. Determined placement of each solid rocket booster (SRB) to maximize performance while maintaining vehicle stability at launch for the first Atlas V / 431 mission. Presented at customer kick-off meeting at Astrium in Toulouse, France, on September 11, 2001.
