I am a recently graduated architecture student within the master’s program at Dalhousie University, and am pursuing a full-time position as an Intern Architect in Halifax, Nova Scotia.Working as an Architectural Technologist for three years and a student architect for one year, gave me invaluable hands on work experience in the Architectural field. During my time working with GMH Architects, Maltby & Prins Architects, and Archi-Tectonics, I worked on retail, residential, civic, and mixed-use projects. While working I’ve compiled and developed schematic design proposals, drafted construction drawings, delegated design tasks, coordinated with consultants and project managers, responded to requests for information, issued architectural site instructions, and attended on-site meetings and inspections. The 2D and 3D digital programs used to complete these tasks were AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Adobe Suite. I enjoy working in a team environment, but also excel while working independently as well. The Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies programs at Dalhousie University have given me practical and conceptual experience with design and representation. Over the past four years I have designed projects of various scales, including but not limited to, a pavilion, a house, a community centre, a bathhouse, an entertainment district, an urban system to deal with flood defense in the Netherlands, and my thesis which included an urban system and library space that addressed the segregating effects of highway expansion. My Architectural Technologist education and experience, in combination with my newly acquired design experience received from Dalhousie University, provides me with a strong background in both the technical and design aspects of Architecture.
