As managing director of Atelier Ten’s Australian offices and a global leader of our Benchmarking practice, I contribute sustainability planning and design consulting to environmentally ambitious campuses, precincts, and buildings. My areas of expertise include high performance facades, advanced HVAC systems, sustainable master planning, and resilient design.In Australia, my projects include the South Australia Health and Medical Research Institute (high performance facade design), Barangaroo South (Green Star Communities strategy), the adaptive reuse of the Main Assembly Building at Tonsley Park, SA (daylighting, thermal comfort, and energy efficiency consulting), and the original environmental concepts for Federation Square in Melbourne. In the US and Europe, my recently completed projects include net-zero energy buildings for the Choate School and the J. Craig Venter Institute, multiple LEED Platinum rated academic and commercial buildings, and sustainability frameworks for major urban medical and university campuses.I also teach environmental design at the UTS School of Architecture, and I continue to serve as a visiting lecturer and environmental design consultant for the Rural Studio at Auburn University. Previously, I taught environmental design and systems integration at the Yale School of Architecture. I speak frequently on environmental design and sustainability at architecture schools and industry conferences around the world.My leadership in environmental design was recognized by the US Green Building Council, who named me a LEED Fellow in 2013. I earned my M.Arch from the Yale University School of Architecture, and both a B.S. and an M.A. in architectural history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
