Adjunct Professor for the DT226 and DT227 PCB Design classes at Palomar College. Developed the first online version of the classes in 2020. Currently serve as an adjunct assistant professor. Currently working with John Watson on a Roadshow to expose high school students to PCB Design careers.

Developed component library methodology for department's transfer from P-CAD to Altium Designer which includes the automation of several design processes traditionally performed by hand. Reduced cable component creation time from 2-4 hours to 10-30 minutes. Cable drawing times reduced from several days to several hours (depending upon the complexity of the cable.) Developed methodology for handling cabling and harnessing via Altuim Design's schematic capture tool. Developed the methodology and library for cable components to allow for future reuse. First known cable library with intelligent data to have been created in Altium Designer.Developed processes and documentation to streamline the flow of components into the central libraries from the designers. Protocol Dongle June 2011 to Sept 2011. Schematic and PCB design in Altium Designer for a protocol decoder to translate the Pelco D protocol into several equipment protocols. Creation of library components consisting of symbol, footprint, and 3D models. Programmed the Microchip PIC16F1947 to obtain the Pelco D protocol on an RS-485 line, translate it, and to transmit on either RS-232 or RS-485. Used the PIC16F876 for prototyping while boards were being fabricated. Assembly language and C programming used to implement the code. Programmed the chip using the Microchip MPLAB and the CCS C compiler. Bootloader written to allow field programming of the product.Light Control Oct 2011 to Feb 2012Wrote firmware for lighting/dimming control using the PIC16F1947 with development on a PIC16F1937. Project includes the use of the serial communication port, SPI, ADC, timers, and DAC. Assisted in the hardware/software integration.

Designed the Fairchild LXC138, LCX10, LCX11, LCX27, LCX38 and the LCX86. Used Cadence’s Analog Artist. Automated the LCX verification process using the SKILL language to test 30 corner cases consisting of temperature, process, voltage & frequency variations. Senior Test Engineer, Feb 1996 to May 1999. Wrote procedures for product operators. Gave hands-on demonstrations to ensure operator understanding. Operated support equipment to the ITS 9000 such as the EGLAS wafer sorter, Synaptic and Delta Auto handlers. Proficient use of AWK to extract data from large log files.

FPGA/hardware engineer under the University of Southern California's engineering co-op program. Worked for the SETC group (Space Environment Tecnology Center.) Worked at Aerospace 20 hr/week during the school year and full time over the summer.My primary job was to draw circuit designs with the basic logic elements (AND, OR, NOR, etc.) using the Actel (MicroSemi) FPGAs for satellite usage.Designs included an EDAC (Error Detection and Correction) circuit; hardware floating point converter circuit with barrel shift registers; a video frame capturing capability; and complex multiplexing circuitry to allow various byte, word, and long word data to be optimally stored.Cradle to Grave responsibility for the designs in including term papers, drawings, procurement, delegation of assembly to the technicians, and lab/test work.
