I am a Partner in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department, based at our New Haven and New York offices. My practice focuses on representing and advising clients regarding internal investigations, regulatory compliance, criminal defense, and related civil and administrative matters. I also litigate complex civil matters. I previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, where I led and supervised numerous complex investigations and prosecutions, including various types of fraud, corruption, racketeering, campaign finance offenses, obstruction of justice, and tax crimes. Targets included a member of Congress and multiple members of the New York state legislature. As part of the Department of Justice’s investigation of corruption in FIFA, the governing body of international soccer, I also prosecuted and convicted numerous soccer officials and sports marketing executives from around the world for their receipt of millions of dollars in bribes. Among the matters I have worked on at Wiggin and Dana are: • Representing the former Prime Minister of Malaysia in a civil action filed in federal court in order to obtain evidence that would assist him in defending against criminal charges in Malaysia related to the 1MDB scandal• Conducting an internal investigation for a major Asia-based financial institution regarding decisions made by U.S. executives to engage in a transaction that resulted in a significant loss• Representing the subject of a New York federal grand jury investigation into suspected fraud against New York City by a city contractor• Representing hedge fund investors in a series of lawsuits and arbitrations in multiple jurisdictions against the fund, the fund’s principals, and their associates for breaches of fiduciary duty• Representing a FINRA-licensed individual in a FINRA disciplinary proceeding concerning suspected insider trading• Representing the Democratic members of the Connecticut Reapportionment Commission in litigation before the Connecticut Supreme Court regarding Congressional redistricting• Representing targets and subjects of Connecticut federal grand jury investigations of financial crimes including bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering• Representing an educational institution in connection with a False Claims Act investigation regarding valuable intellectual property rights• Representing Yale University and Yale Law School administrators in connection with a federal lawsuit filed by Yale Law School students alleging claims including defamation and invasion of privacy
