About Paul Van Hal

Physical Chemist / Materials Scientist.I am a hands-on person with 20 years of work experience as a senior scientist and have a wide skill set including thin film technology, additive manufacturing, chemistry, material science, laser spectroscopy, and organic electronics. My work in these fields has so far yielded more than 20 patents and numerous publications in leading journals. I make, create and analyze new opto-electronic devices (LED, OLED, OTFTs, sensors, organic electronics, solar cells) and guide colleagues towards new ideas. Key is understanding the degradation/failure mechanisms within these opto-electronic devices. My last role is cooperating project leader to generate IP within the field of 3D printing for Lighting applications.I am passionate about innovation and I particularly enjoy difficult challenges where I can apply my analytical and practical skills to solve problems.

Spectral impact of light for Horticulture : improve nutritional value of tomatoes (200% increase in vitamine C).Besides 3D printing of innovative luminaires, my expertise lies in the areas of photostable functional organic molecules, spectral contribution of light for applications, efficiency of (in)-organic phosphors, optics, luminaire architecture.Hands-on support for 3D luminaire production facility.
