I proactively developed and maintained a team of high‐performing Process and Maintenance Engineers and continually sought innovative methods for improving team performance and efficacy. Some of the key highlights were:•Managed a team of over 20 engineers and technicians•Successfully kept downtime to below agreed targets. Averaged at 99.1% uptime•Delivered all quarterly budgets under targets and worked with the finance department on further cost reduction initiatives. •Set-up a maintenance call desk logging all calls from Manufacturing lines, this data (Remedy™ software) was then used to highlight problematic equipment for ROI on upgrading.•Developed a strategy for the streamlining of the engineering department – including merging maintenance with the facilities dept•Set-up weekly dashboard meetings•Chaired the FCCB (factory change control board) forum to ensure any work carried out to the Mfg lines would not impact on uptime.•Successfully delivered 20% savings on Maintenance OPEX over a 3yr period by: replacing problematic equipment, streamlining stores function, more efficient work practices (head count redn), TPM, and getting involved at design stage.•Transitioned several key staff members from being contractors to being Dell employees.•Developed the PM routine through initiatives such as;o Installing PEMAC software (also used for monitoring inventory levels of spares)o Assigning technicians to be responsible for specific equipmento Working closely with Mfg to carry out certain PMs while key stations were on break.• Developed Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) from an idea into a reality and received high-level buy-in from senior management to implement it.• Ensured the Process Engineering team were working closely with all other engineering departments which minimised future downtime. -
Senior Process EngineerDell Jan 2001 - Nov 2001Round Rock, Texas, UsI was relocated to Dell headquarters for 11months in to successfully transition the new manufacturing lines from Austin to Limerick as part of the worldwide production ramp-up plan.- Evaluate best practices being done in US and determine which ones we should transition to Limerick (under a ‘copy exact’ umbrella)- Worked with manufacturing line design team to ensure aspects such as; ergonomics, ease of assembly, ease of maintenance, modularity, were all included in the design.- Liaised with Irish based companies to ensure all design and specifications were compliant with Irish regulations.- Responsible for change alteration to the AutoCAD drawing Dell’s new manufacturing line in Limerick. All updates/changes had to be drawn in and then approved at design team level.- Back in Limerick I had to project manage the installation of these new lines, debug any issues, and then get them commissioned in the space of 3months, and for a budget of less than €400k per line. -
