About Paul Worthman

THE #1 COMPLAINT I HEAR FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE STRUGGLING IN THEIR JOB SEARCH is that recruiters won’t respond to them. They have applied for dozens of positions they are well-qualified for and…nothing. By the time I meet them they are SO frustrated and want help. That’s when I go to work. My goal is to make it easier for outstanding candidates to connect with employers and land great positions. How do I do that?My marketing education has framed the way I have approached every job and every writing, coaching, and consulting assignment I’ve had through the years. JOB HUNTING IS A SALES AND MARKETING PROCESS. PERIOD. I understand sales and marketing. Earlier in my career, I had sales roles and management roles. I have been a hiring manager and a recruiter. I understand an employer’s mindset and what it takes to get their attention and ultimately get hired. And lately? I am an educator that guides and coaches people to successful employment outcomes.WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING RESUMES AND LINKEDIN PROFILES, I: ● Employ marketing principles that reverse-engineer the traditional resume-writing process. ● Uncover the lens through which employers are looking for the ideal candidate, so I can... ● Write resumes and LinkedIn profiles that immediately resonate with employers. THE RESULT? MORE INTERVIEWS. SOONER.For people who want help with other pieces of the job-hunting puzzle, you guessed it, I coach and educate people around how to apply solid marketing strategies and tactics to: ● Conduct More Productive Networking Meetings ● Identify Prospective Employers ● Win the Interviewing Game, and ● Negotiate the Best Possible Compensation Package

Listed skills include Resume Writing, Career Development, Training, Career Counseling, and 37 others.

Senior Internship Advisor/Coordinator - Lynxconnect/Experiential Learning Center (Elc)

Current

Denver, Colorado, United States

I coordinate academic internship opportunities for 200+ students at CU Denver annually; primarily students in the School of Business as well as some majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I have also served engineering students on-and-off over the years. The total student population in my portfolio of majors exceeds 2,000. I coach and advise students on how to present their emerging professional stories to prospective internship employers and successfully navigate the hiring process. To do this, I:● Share my marketing-based approach to writing resumes. ● Review resumes and cover letters.● Explain the benefits of and tactics for conducting informational interviews. ● Support searches by providing interviewing tips and doing mock interviews. When I’m not working with students, I enjoy working with my colleagues to plan various events and advance projects designed to expand resources for students and opportunities for employers to connect with students. I am in regular contact with faculty, academic programs, campus offices, and employers to continue to promote internships and experiential learning opportunities.

Aug 2012 - Present

Manager Of Career And Professional Development Training | Business School | 11-Month Mba Program

Denver, Colorado, United States

THE HIGHLIGHT EACH YEAR was participating in the 2-week International Course Abroad where I got to travel internationally with the cohort. I was one of the chaperones as we went on plant tours, met with representatives from leading global organizations like Mercedes, Airbus, and Prologis (to name a few). We visited amazing cities including Berlin, Strasbourg, Budapest, and Frankfurt. The tours of cultural sites ranging from the ultra-modern European Parliament to the medieval Strasbourg Cathedral (completed in 1439 after 300 years of construction) are among my fondest memories. I worked directly with students and alumni of the program to provide assessments (CareerLeader), developed workshops and resources around professional development and career transitions, and always maintained an open door and an attentive ear for students, faculty, and staff. For a time, I took on more responsibilities for marketing the 11-Month MBA program to prospective students. With help, I revamped the website, took over email marketing functions, and managed a new online advertising campaign.
