(1) Developed and functionally tested a high voltage 150 kVA dc-ac converter and 15kVA dc-ac converter with RL load for motor drives appplication.Performed design calculations, component selection, schematic inputs to PCB team,procurement, PCB assembly, casing design, interface design, converter assembly, testing and integration in the motor drives application.(2) Built a rig and performed load tests at nominal conditions on a medium power, high speed BLDC motors by coupling a similar motor to act as a generator. Developed firmware (in 'C') for BLDC motor speed control and speed estimation using hall sensors in microcontroller at 50 kHz switching frequency.(3) Installed RL-load tested dc-ac converters in centrifugal pump rigs and performed tests with high speed induction motors.Developed firmware for induction motor speed control - (i) V/F control with SVPWM technique, (ii)speed estimation from a high frequency incremental encoder, (iii) SPI communication and parallel communication for acquisition of voltage sensor and current sensor data connected to TI’s ADC IC, (iv) UART protocol for front end motor control.Implemented emergency abort scheme in these rigs using switch gears like MCCB, time delay relays and contactors.(4) Built and management of the team of four in the development and testing of high power motor drives.(5) Worked with vendors in development of high speed BLDC motors and high ‘C’ batteries and off the shelf products like gimbal actuators, accelerometers, VFD’s, load banks etc. Had conversations with the vendor in both the technical and commercial aspect.(6) DC Power supplies testing - (i) Designed and tested an three phase diode bridge rectifier with DC reactor filter - input to dc/ac converter.(ii) Tested a ultracapacitor banks at around 100kW for high voltage motor drives and at around 40kW for low voltage motor drives for short duration usage. Performed charging and discharging of ultracapacitor bank with regulated dc power supply.
