Like every student who studies law, I also dreamt of one day donning the black coat and gown and practising in the courts of India. But as they say, no matter how well you plan, life always has something that you never thought of in store for you. I got an opportunity to attend an interview at ValueLabs, an IT Services company for a legal in-house (fresher) role. It was my first job interview ever. I did not know what to do because I knew that if I took up this opportunity, my life will be completely different. I might not be able to practise any time soon. I had to make a choice. And I did what at that moment felt as if it was a mistake. But it was one of the best decisions I ever made in life. My corporate journey was not that easy though, the transition from the mindset of a person who is interested in litigation to a non-litigation (desk job) was tough for me. At times I was furious and wanted to quit but with the help of my team at ValueLabs, I could grow in the corporate field. It has been more than 2 years that I have been working in the corporate sector. During my small journey, I gained exposure in contract vetting, risk mitigation, negotiations and various types of contracts.Apart from my professional work, I love to read books, write blogs, travel and in my free time I support the NGO that I have been in association with for almost 7 years now.
