InternshipFord Motor Company Dec 2015 - Jan 2016SanandThe project was based on the reduction of the consumption of the cap tip by changing the physical parameters i.e. welding temperature, welding pressure, dressing force, calibration of cap tip once the welding is finished etc. The project was extended to the product line where few welding robots parameters was changed to the experimented values obtained previously and the spots were tested by chisel test. The test was done for 3 sets of weld cap and on 4 welding robots where 3 showed a significant improvement and 1 failed.Apart from the project the internship gave me practical knowledge about spot welding and sealers and how these play a vital role in converting various parts of car into BIW then into a car. I was assigned into Body construction department which is 94-95% automated and it highest across the world where I learnt about few lean principles, Toyota production system, Primary tools and Secondary tools of lean manufacturing.
