Regarded as “Kingdom of Bicycle”, bicycles were the transport of choice for over half a billion people in China. With watch, radio and sewing machine, bike was one of the "three rounds & a sound" famously known as "san zhuan yi xiang’along." Since 2016 Chinese bike share has exponentially grown to a multi-billion industry with two of China’s 30+ odd bikeshare startups, Ofo & Mobike leading the pack with a 70 million daily rides, 400 million users and a mind-bending $6 Billion market capitalisation between them. Big names like Tencent, Alibaba jumped into the bandwagon with billions pumped into these startups. The Chinese bikeshare explosion proves that if bikes were ubiquitously accessible, free from their docking stations, they appealed to the urban masses for first / last mile commutes. However, with stationless helter skelter bike share came the shocking stories of mountains of abandoned, littered, damaged, stolen and vandalised bikes in every major Chinese city, causing headaches to city authorities. It’s a catch-22 situation that needs to be resolved urgently. 2017 was a year of two extremes, China’s Dockless Bikeshare explosion, and extraordinary surge in blockchain economy. “RIDO” world’s first traffic-compliant Bikeshare OS (Operating System) is our solution that exploits both and blockchains bikeshare for sustainable tomorrow. In the machine economy of tomorrow everything will be connected to everything else, and every machine/device will be endowed with some level of AI. This would warrant networking of trillions of human-to-machine and machine-to-machine interfaces in a way that’s safe, secure, efficient, fast, automated and most importantly sustainable for the future.
