Research interests: effects of ionizing radiation on mammalian cells (normal and cancer cell lines); proton therapy and its enhancement - Proton Boron Capture Therapy; FLASH dose rate effects – enhanced sparing of normal cells; radiation sensitivity of cells and its alteration; radiation induction of structural chromosomal aberrations (in metaphase, PCC, mFISH, etc.); radiation induced senescence; biological effects of heavy and high energy particles (e.g. space radiation, laser-generated particle beams, etc.); radiation induced genomic instability

Duties: Leading a small team of researchers and scientists; directly involved (“hands-on”) in the research; presentation of results: scientific manuscripts, local and international conferences, etc.; analysis of the scientific literature and application of findings into own research; regular meetings and collaboration with other scientific groups (intra- and inter-laboratory)Research interests: effects of ionizing radiation (especially accelerated heavy ions) on the mammalian cells; immediate and late effects of space radiation; radiation induced genomic instability; induction of mutations and their transfer to next generations of cells; cytogenetical analyses; chromosomal aberrations; structural changes in DNA (using PCR method); radiosensitivity of cells and microorganisms and its alteration; induction of reactive oxygen species in cells; effects of radiation on small laboratory animals and non-human primates – cognitive functions and genetic alterations, analysis of blood and bone marrow, evaluation of micro nuclei, chromosomal aberrations, and other assays
