During my internship in this institution, I have worked on several aspects in terms ofCommissioner’s jurisdiction: Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection. Interms of Access to Information of Public Importance high-ranking officials have guided us throughthe legal process of law application in order for the parties to be able to gain access to informationas well as the role of the Commissioner as a second instance body in deciding upon appeals by theparties. I have analyzed official appeals made by the parties and have jointly with other interneesreflected upon possible solutions for some particular cases. Along with that, I have analyzedvarious judgments made by the European Court for Human Rights in the field of Free Access toInformation and followed the process of harmonization of the Commissioner, and Republic ofSerbia in general, along the lines of today’s European tendencies in this field.In terms of Personal Data Protection, I have been presented with numerous problems created bythe law in force and how it practically affects everyday life of citizens and therefore the work ofthe Commissioner. I have analyzed various real-life situations in which incorrect application ofthe law could potentially lead to serious consequences in terms of personal data protection. Aswell as in the access to information aspect, I have analyzed many ECtHR judgments related to dataprotection and visited some meetings about the drafting on the new law on personal data protectionon which the Commissioner is actively working on.
