Responsible for upscaling and commercialization of the TORWASH® technology. Coordination of the design, engineering, construction, commissioning and testing of a 0,5 ton/h demonstration plant (2-year project), PR, marketing and supply chain management.

Responsible for upscaling and commercialization of the TORWASH® technology, leading key projects, contact person for launching customers, writing project/research proposals for subsidized national and EU projects, setting up new collaborations, broadening network, advising on strategy and R&D of the research cluster.

Involved as a researcher in two European projects, SECTOR and LogistEC, which both involve the production of high quality bio-energy carriers by utilizing torrefaction technology. Also responsible for a smaller project which aims at a better understanding of the physical, structural and chemical changes that biomass (constituents) undergoes during torrefaction, with a focus on lignin chemistry.Tasks include: small scale batch to pilot scale continuous torrefaction tests, feedstock selection and evaluation, troubleshooting. Responsible for: Executing research projects, leading work packages, project management, writing and editing project reports/deliverables, internship coordination.

Through TMC involved als a researcher and consultant in biomass torrefaction projects.

The scope of this research project was to produce a renewable alternative for natural gas from biomass via gasification.Tasks involve: scientific publications, giving presentations, visiting conferences, networking, supervising student projects, academic teaching, mentoring BSc and MSc students, responsible for organizing group meetings/presentations, responsible for organizing group trips/excursions/leisure time activities, responsible for project budget and project management.

The aim of the project was to optimize the energy usage of a commercial charcoal production facility by combined charcoal and electricity generation. The project was realized in cooperation with CleanFuels (Enschede, NL), Carbo B.V. (Almelo, NL) and Ekoblok (Almelo, NL).Tasks involved: communicating with the factory workers, organizing and planning of measurements (on-site), processing of measurement data.

The scope of this research was the development of carbon-based solid-acid catalysts to serve as a renewable alternative for sulphuric acid as catalyst in the organic peroxides production process.
