At Buzzdeck I was responsible for designing and building scalable system architecture including software and hardware layers.Buzzdeck is a powerful analytics platform for the entertainment industry. It processes huge amounts of data every day. I implemented several solutions to make it run smoothly both on the data processing end as well as the user facing website.Some of the improvements were:— moving the platform from VPS to a multiple dedicated server set up for a more cost-effective and powerful infrastructure— setting up data replication on multiple database servers to reduce the load— porting parts of non-relational data from SQL to MongoDB for better performance— implementing a message queue system for load-heavy processes to reduce the load on the servers

Building, maintaining and improving several administration, client services and housekeeping systems− Porting applications from plain PHP to Zend Framework− Working within an agile environment of about 30 developers using SCRUM methodology− One of my biggest accomplishments was creation of a financial reconciliation tool (the company processed huge number of orders every day using several payment methods in many different currencies via two legal entities so it was a big task)− Another big accomplishment was a redesign (visual as well as functional) of the company’s bug and feature tracking system. I made the application more intuitive by improving the UI and I adapted it to support SCRUM methodology)− Day to day tasks were to develop features and fix bugs (PHP + Zend + MySQL + jQuery)− Occasional tasks included developing features for the customer­facing website (in Perl and Mason)

For First Move I created two large-scale web applications.One of them was a custom e-commerce platform. The system includes store front for on­line customers as well as a call­-centre area where call­centre agents can place orders while on the phone with a customer. Main features: live stock control, back­ordering, multiple deliveries, integration with on­line payment gateways (EPDQ, PayPal, Protx), extensive stock and sales reports, SEO friendly URLs and HTML structure.The other application is an internal distribution system which allows companies to register and manage their marketing materials online. A company's employees and partners can also register and order the materials; the orders are then processed by First Move. Main features include: support for many clients, product catalogue and shopping basket functionality, user groups with different ordering limits, live stock control, extensive stock and ordering reports, fully customisable look and feel and system messages, order tracking integrated with couriers' live tracking information.
