I was up for a challenge to lead around 30 people divided into 3 teams in Product Engineering. The journey continues.

After joining Zendesk I was given a chance to grow my team from around 5 to 14 people, up until the point where I have trained new team lead and split in two parts. We have been shipping bigger and more impactful projects involving Zendesk's teams from around the world. Having the two team's set up for effective and sustainable delivery I have been reading, learning and experimenting with varying results hoping to lead insightful and more impactful one-on-ones and mentoring sessions with both engineers and junior leaders.

I was trusted to Lead the team owning multiple customer journeys served by 10+ backend services and frontend application counterparts in Java/Ruby and Typescript. I was the go to person for distributing team's time between maintenance and new feature development, reliability metrics, planning and delivering within timeliness, working with product and design. I have learnt to delegate, consult and create the space to grow for each of my team's members. As the team we where trying to apply Extreme Ownership principles, open and no-ego communication and retrospecting and reiterating on our process. Thanks to this, despite me being junior and inexperience leader, as a team we were dependable and consistent, but also easygoing and fun to work with.

With the Python team peaking at being only 5 devs strong. I have shifted my focus in search for impact independent of technology. I have become productive backend and frontend developer with JS/Python/Ruby and myriad of frameworks. I started to internalise "those are only tools" mindset. After reading Cagan (2008) "Inspired - How to build products that customers love" I have started to think less like a coder and more like a product developer.

Together with one more dev I have joined to introduce the Python language to what was Ruby only ecosystem. We have been simultaneously growing the team, building the tools we needed, and trying to live up to the expectations of fast growing startup with "It's null until you ship it" motto.

Joined Onet Poczta team responsible, as of then, for providing email services to more than 4 million customers. I have seen the learned the challenge of such a scale. I hope I have contributed back a least a little bit more than I have received during onboarding. Decided to leave for what I thought was winning-lottery-ticket like opportunity in Base CRM.

Coding, mainly in Python, various PoCs for different research projects. I have yet to learn the difference between academic code and shipping to production, still I consider it valuable thing to do during studies.

I have learnt about the importance and value of testing. How rare and unique in-born ability to systematically "breaking things" is. How mentally straining testing mindset is... and that I need to build things to be happy. The admiration for great test scenario and the mind behind it stayed with me.
