I have been tinkering with web development since I was a high school freshman coding in HTML and CSS over twenty years ago. This interest continued into college with several programming courses, though my focus shifted art and design, from color theory to digital art to 3D modeling. I made my own major because I was in academic pursuit of unifying theory and design for different media. Opportunities since college have mostly taken me away from art and design professionally, but I still retain my experience in design as an asset that I bring to the table every now and then.For the past couple of years I have put to task my experience with front-end web development and WordPress as a Web Producer. In this role I have been responsible for fulfilling content management requests in the legacy CMS (Drupal) while I have also fully developed a completely new frontend experience using WordPress as the sole developer. I've carried forward my experience with data entry and quality assurance to engineer an efficient and productive process. I have also leveraged my coding chops to implement PHP functions to achieve requirements for query loops involving custom post types, custom taxonomies, views and templates. Unifying our business's product content and marketing content within this new environment has enhanced production and engaged teams in collaboration in some really cool ways, enabling us to leap forward with a unified design system with guidance from dozens of stakeholders.My previous role required coding scripts nearly every day in PowerShell, Windows Batch, SQL, even Excel VBA, using Git for version control. It was my job to create tools, troubleshoot issues, as well as find ways to get more done. Much of my work then revolved around the experience of my coworkers, especially new hires. I understand the importance of communication as well as balancing quality and efficiency.Outside of the office, I primarily work in JavaScript. I am very confident in my semantic HTML, CSS/SCSS, ES6 JavaScript & React capabilities. I have also implemented Node.js, AJAX, REST APIs, the MVC paradigm, Express servers, as well as MongoDB. I’m comfortable with Webpack, Github, VS Code, Thunder Client/Postman and Ubuntu Bash by way of Windows Subsystem for Linux. I have developed WordPress sites locally as well. I also have a basic understanding of Python.I mostly use AI to troubleshoot code. There are big questions about the role of AI. With my artistic background I have many thoughts on it. I like to balance curiosity and experimentation with consideration and discussion.
