As the Founder and CEO of Pawztopia, I have spent more than a decade in the pet industry from entrepreneur to pet-welfare activist. I have seen it all — from the emergence of designer pets to high-tech pet care accessories. Unfortunately, I have sadly seen the devastating emergence of pet dumping, abandonment and senseless euthanasia. Pawztopia is the answer to every inch of the pet market. Pawztopia in the making: Avalon, my own beloved dog, was a victim of dumping by her former owner, who left her at the vet and never returned to pick her up. The man indifferently retorted, “I just can’t keep her anymore.” I stepped in and saved the day, and ultimately, Avalon’s life. Hundreds of pets are abandoned every day, just like Avalon. They are dumped from cars, abandoned in parks, left with groomers, daycare, boarding facilities, or veterinarians. Some pets are basically left outdoors and neglected. Statistics reveal that economics and downward economic circumstances are the key reasons for pet dumping, abandonment and neglect. Many pets adopted during the COVID lockdowns were abandoned when their owners returned to work. Frustrated pet owners may even abandon their pets over issues as insignificant as the inability to cope with untrained animals. I have years of discovery as to what my clients desired to make pet ownership more convenient. And that is how Pawztopia was inspired! It answers a fundamental need to fulfill every pawz parent’s dream of having a simple, expedient, comprehensive and centralized mobile application to make both their lives easier.My goal is to make pet ownership a healthier, happier, more convenient, more enjoyable and gratifying experience!
