Payal’s mission is to empower people, leaders, and communities to realize we have more in common as humans than otherwise led to believe by those who benefit from our divide. Payal’s belief is powered through 10+ years of research on empathy and accountability transformation, 15+ years of experience as a former clinical therapist and an organizational psychologist. And most importantly, it was her experience as a 3rd culture kid, growing up in over 18 places, a mixture of continents, countries, and cities around the world, that led to her deep belief in finding common ground and elevating our lives, and communities, through empathy and unity. Payal founded RK Empathy + RK Impact, the social impact arm of RK Empathy, to curate immersive experiences that bridge the gap between abstract thought and real-life challenges to help shift the conversation from theory to reality and to care for human challenges with humane solutions. Payal has brought her framework, Reframed Perspectives: Compassion for self, Empathy for others & Accountability for both, to mission-driven organizations that range from NASA, Google, Betterment, i.c.stars, and to National Science Laboratories to shift the approach from fear-led motivation to empathy-led empowerment.
