Payam Sharifi is an engineer and researcher in Geotechnical Engineering with more than 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering services including petrochemical industry, combined-cycle power plant, tailing storage facilities, open-pit mine, different factories construction, gyratory crushers, transportation projects (railway, subway, airport runway), and high-rise building. After a period of time working in industry, Payam returned to graduate studies related to the cold regions engineering.Prior to joining the GeoEngineering Centre at Queen’s-RMC, Payam was geotechnical lead with Mandro Consulting Engineers where he was in charge of more than 40 onshore geotechnical investigations, particularly located along the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea coastline. He provided geotechnical investigation reports, engineering scope and services of agreement, bidding document for client correspondence, feasibility study, cost estimates, technical procedure of studies, and civil-geotechnical engineering fieldwork research. He also trained junior geotechnical engineers to perform various soil and rock in-situ lab tests.Payam collaborated with Granteen Consulting Engineering and Mandro Consulting Engineers where he was a Construction Site Supervisor in 2 deep excavation projects with a maximum depth of 38 m from the ground surface in Tehran.
