    As VP Engineering, I built Xinova's engineering capability while overseeing the architecture and development of their platform. In twelve months, we successfully launched the initial platform (https://www.xinova.com) and grew to 13 highly-skilled, deeply-engaged engineers.We developed the platform on Google Cloud Platform's Kubernetes Engine (GKE) using Go services with Postgres and an event-driven pub/sub backend integrated with DW/BI tooling. We uses React/Redux for our platform's first application.During the first year of scaling, I designed and was an IC on most components, including a dynamic workflow engine (modelled as chains of autonomous agents) and an state-of-the-art ABAC authorization infrastructure.

Our platform maintained 99.99% up-time throughout it's life including a 100x increase in usage during our public launch.

    The Nordstrom Innovation Lab was a cross-functional team of engineers, designers and ethnographers tasked with developing Nordstrom’s innovation capacity across all retail channels: Nordstrom, Nordstrom.com, Nordstrom Rack and HauteLook.com. At the lab, I:* Led a cross-­functional team of engineers and designers to design, prototype, and implement a mobile fashion application. The solution included an iOS customer application, a Node/Angularjs operator application and integration with various public Nordstrom APIs. * I co-­architected and developed a distributed system on AWS/CoreOS using a collection of open­-source components including Terraform, Docker, Kafka, InfluxDB, and Dynamo. Systems infrastructure components were developed primarily in Go, with enterprise integration components (Oracle, JMS, XML/SOAP) in Java. The system allowed us to deploy real and mock Nordstrom services into an easily deployed and scaled cluster to provide an adaptable API for partner integration. * Other projects included prototyping and validating multiple retail business models using Ruby, Node.js, Angular, Android, iOS, Go, Arduino, R and various communication and sensor technologies including RFID, NFC and BlueTooth.

I also recall spending quite a bit of time writing code to dynamically generate PDF reports.

MinistryHome allowed simple page creation, was dynamically theme-able, integrated with several organizations' donation systems, and included customizable photo albums, blogs, contact forms and more. MinistryHome also evolved into a social network of non-profit workers. Free profiles, friend networks and online chat all integrated as a platform with the original website builder.I sold MinistryHome in 2007.
