Virginia Tech provides a student run, well equipped workshop for students in the Myers Lawson School or Construction. Students use the workshop to complete school and personal projects. Lab associates are responsible for: maintaining and repairing equipment, ensuring equipment is used safely, confirming students have completed required trainings, programing and running advanced equipment (computer numerical control (CNC) machine, laser engraver/cutter, 3D printers), building plaques, signs, keychains and other paraphernalia for various departments, and maintaining a clean shop.

Recently, I have started a venture of a new product that targets the construction/agriculture industry. The goal of the company is to create ideas/products that keep the work sites a safe place. As of now we make and provide dust containment boot funnels, that attach to the bottom of a concrete silo and funnels the concrete dust into the mixer in order to reduce the dust cloud that builds up during the process.

I started my own business in 2020 named Icon Mobile Detailing. My job consists of marketing my business to gain/maintain clientele, managing time to fit my customers in a time that works for them and for me as well especially being a full time student, and providing a quality service of detailing vehicles at the convenience of the customer at their home or work place.

I had the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks that significantly enhanced my learning experience. I provided quality control on-site and assisted in managing trade partners, which allowed me to understand the importance of collaboration in the construction process. Additionally, I participated in on-site problem-solving discussions, gaining valuable insights into how to address challenges effectively. Attending project meetings with trade partners, engineers, architects, and owners further broadened my perspective on project management and teamwork. I also took the initiative to acquire my OSHA-10 certification, which deepened my understanding of safety regulations and practices. Overall, this internship was instrumental in expanding my knowledge and skills in the field.

I provide customer service to be sure that the customers have a good experience to keep them coming back. I also manage the closing process to make sure that the store can be closed in a cleanliness and proper way while still being efficient in order to reduce labor hours for the company.
