Friendly, dedicated, and enthusiastic team player who is very detail oriented. Skilled in meeting the demands of a busy work environment and enjoys a punctual, organized lifestyle. Knowledgeable in LC-MS and GC-MS, forensic drug testing, and various sample preparation methods. Passionate about science, education, and helping others. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, and exercising. Always looking to meet new people and help others on their journey; my inbox is always open!-------My interest in forensic toxicology began after seeing my first episode of Criminal Minds in middle school. Back then, I didn't know what "toxicology" was or what "forensics" meant, but my mind was made up: I was going to pursue a career in science. Yes, I was THAT person who saw something on TV and said "I want to do that." I really fell in love with the subject during my time at the University of Toronto where I specialized in Pharmacology and Biomedical Toxicology. My favourite classes were those where we discussed the mechanism of action of drugs/toxins and had case studies to challenge our thinking. I love knowing how things work and filtering through my knowledge to find solutions to problems. I graduated from U of T with High Distinction and was on the Dean's List. After U of T, I knew I wanted to learn more and had the amazing opportunity to complete my Master's in Analytical Toxicology at King's College London. Here, I really got an insight to the forensic application of toxicology. I learned how LC-MS and GC/MS are used to detect (and quantify) drugs in a biological matrix, as well as various methods of sample preparation to help achieve selectivity and sensitivity. I enjoyed learning about common drugs and poisons relevant to clinical and forensic toxicology, method validations, and other chromatography and spectroscopy techniques. I graduated from KCL with Distinction and The Braithwaite Prize for the highest mark in the program. My love for toxicology and passion for learning continues as I am presently training to be a Certifying Scientist. I am excited to apply my knowledge from the past few years and continue to learn and grow. And yes, I still love Criminal Minds.
