Profile bio

About Paul Beijer

I am a senior executive, advisor, author and guest lecturer who helps government relations and public affairs teams maximize the value they add to the business and improve performance while lowering cost and risk.I have held leadership roles in large multinationals' finance and government relations functions. Some highlights include:In 2005-2006, I led the creation of the credit management function for Shell’s Global Downstream business. In this role, I established an organisation of close to 800 FTE’s, bringing down cost and working capital, which released enough cash into the business to fund Upstream investments. In 2012-2018, I guided the strengthening and professionalisation of Shell’s industry-leading global government relations organisation, helping to establish the backbone of the function as it is today.Since 2019, I’ve been an advisor and transformation partner with a Global Ports and Logistics Services provider - where I have delivered on multiple projects with the GR-IQ team. As Managing Director of GR-IQ, I help Fortune 500 and other large organisations build the government relations capabilities that help them create and protect significant value. I integrate my nuanced understanding of the Government Relations realities, objectives and practices with the discipline and investment rigour that I developed as a finance leader to deliver measurable improvements for the function. We offer audit, strategy and transformation services in situations where:1. You require a fast assessment of the state of affairs of your Government Relations function.2. You are looking for help to define the vision, mission and purpose of the Government Relations function and a roadmap to get from ‘good to great’.3. You need guidance and leadership to execute selected projects in your organisation and ensure the change is implemented. All of our work focuses on putting GR leaders in a position to drive performance in their function and articulate the value they add in a way that they have not been able to before. We also advise top strategy consulting firms in Asia, Europe and the United States on geopolitical risk management, NGO communications and government relations. If you are a CEO or GR leader who would like to connect and learn more about how we bring strategy, structure and process to what is very much a people and relationship-oriented field, please get in touch. We can arrange a strictly confidential conversation around your strategies and ambitions going forward.

Listed skills include Risk Management, Change Management, Strategy, Finance, and 4 others.
