I've decided to retire after thirty-six years of technology industry experience in a wide variety of technical and executive management positions in venture backed start-ups, large enterprise software companies and non-profits.After taking a short break, I've decided to focus on sharing my experience with others.My IT vendor career focused on analytics, acquisition, financial modeling, business architecture, enterprise architecture, performance analysis and capacity planning. I eventually became a business and enterprise architect and supported colleagues in engagements with customers leveraging tools I either created or adapted from my company.During long tenures at premier vendors, initially in a senior pre-sales technical role focused on mainframe consolidation and systems management, I witnessed enterprise IT transformation as it evolved to include large enterprise distributed systems deployments, early Internet startups, early cloud hosting, hyper-converged infrastructure based on combined hardware and software systems, shared services infrastructure, and much more.Over the years, I've worked directly on large-scale chargeback implementations, early cloud infrastructure, command & control (C2) systems infrastructure for space; C2 for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems; information Integration; service-oriented architecture frameworks and governance; information assurance; XML and web services security; business process management; cross-domain web services; web services management; and more.As a business and enterprise architect, the latter part of my career has focused on the precursors to cloud on large scale on-premise infrastructure deployments and transitioned to large-scale cloud migrations, cloud business case development, total cost of ownership comparison models, TCO calculators, and more.
